producer, consumer and decompOser
A producer is an organism that produces their own food through photosynthesis. A consumer Is an organism that get their food and energy by eating or digesting other organisms. Decomposers are the waste manager of the ecosystem. They break down dead organic matter.
Producer: the producer is phytoplankton (farthest left). Phytoplankton is one of the major producers in the Arctic Ocean. Phytoplankton are single celled organisms that use photosynthesis to create energy.
Consumer: the consumer is zooplankton (middle picture). Zooplankton are tiny animals that feed off of either phytoplankton or other zooplankton. Zooplankton is just one of the many important consumers in the Acrtic Ocean. There are many other consumers such as whales, Sharks, seals, birds and much more.
Decomposer: the decomposer is a very primary decomposer in the world, bacteria (farthest right). Bacteria are decomposer in the Arctic Ocean. Fungi is also a big decomposer. Many things in the ocean take a long time to decompose because there is only a small window of temperature that allows activity.
